The Southern California Region offers Jr. Pony Club, an introductory program for children aged 4 to 7 and their parents.

What are the requirements?

1. A parent or other interested adult along with their child(ren) from 4 to 7 years of age. Jr. Pony Club requires parent and child to participate together at each lesson or activity.
2. United States Pony Club and the Southern California Regional annual membership fees.
3. Your child will need a Jr. Pony Club manual and the Usborne Pony Club guide.
4. Materials fee.
5. The United States Pony Club is an organization that relies heavily on
parent volunteers. Parents will be asked to provide snacks and
transportation as well as helping with the organization of activities.

What can a child and adult expect from Jr. Pony Club?

1. Jr. Pony Club is a 14 lesson program designed to introduce the basics of horse management to young children.
2. No horse is needed as this is an introduction to horse care.
3. Jr. Pony Club is not a riding program. None of the 14 week lessons involve mounted instruction.
4. Children will have the opportunity to visit barns, groom ponies, feed ponies, handle tack /equipment and meet and learn from older Pony Club members from the Southern California region.
5. Jr. Pony Club will meet every second and/or third week for approximately 2 hours per lesson.

Where does Jr. Pony Club meet?

The meetings will take place in barns, homes, parks, tack stores and horse show venues within the Southern California Region. The region extends from the north in Riverside to San Diego in the south.

Who teaches the Jr. Pony Club?

The Regional Supervisor of Southern California, Linda Levitt, heads up the club and is assisted by Jane Wesson, the Vice Regional Supervisor, as well as other special instructors and members from USPC in the Southern California Region.

How do we sign up?

Please contact Linda Levitt (nlevitt1@cox.net) at 760-672-3789 or Jane Wesson (jwesson007@yahoo.com) at 909-261-0964.

NOTE: There will be an introductory meeting on Saturday, March 22 for all prospective members. This does not count as one of the 14 lessons.

SPECIAL – SPECIAL – SPECIAL!
Upon successful completion of the 14 lesson program, your child will have the
opportunity to ride in the Southern California Regional Fundraising horse show!
