Braiding is optional. More importantly it CANNOT be done the night before. It MUST be done on the rally grounds during the official competition day. Please let you riders know that we will ask them to take out their braids if they arrive with them in! Don't start the rally off on a bad note.
If a competitor is to take prescribed medication during competition, the medicine must be noted on the USPC Medical Release Form.
The halter, the bridle, and synthetic reins are the only things that always need a breakaway capability (or be made of leather).
Horse medications, if any, must be listed in addition to nutraceuticals/supplements.
If a rider does not wish to tie their mount with a quick release knot please tell them to let the chief know immediately... there are exceptions approved.
Hay no longer has to be weighed.
Items are to be labeled in any manner, so long as the "lost" or "misplaced" item can be returned to the team or rightful owner.
It is not realistic to expect that a team have enough padding for 4 mounts in the Equine First Aid Kit...but it needs to be appropriate with safe thickness.
Boot trees are required for tall leather boots only (not rubber boots).
A rider may have someone else jog his/her mount, but the CHMJ must be notified before the jog out (maybe your team SM does a better job of moving a horse forward in hand, maybe you have first turnout Inspection and need to get changed and ready.
No jeans or shorts for jog outs.
A competitor may dismount to remove a jacket and to put it back on for the ride without having a new safety check (if in the warmup area); a competitor may remove jacket and put it back on for ride while mounted if there is someone on the ground holding the mount during this process.
There are new evaluation forms for riders and also for volunteers.......finally!!!!
No facial piercings (includes tongue, nose, lips)
No tank tops, no bare midriffs.
Buckle/billet guards are required except on saddles with long billets. They must cover the buckles on the girth. Since many dressage saddles have short billets, billet guards ARE required in those cases.
Wet wipes/baby wipes can be used in place of dock and face sponges. Be sure they contain no alcohol or fragrance. They come alcohol free and fragrance free.
